Dairsie Bridge.

Many think that Dairsie Bridge was built by Archbishop Spottiswood, who also built St. Mary's Church in the early sixteen hundreds. There are others who believe the architecture of the bridge suggests a much older structure and that close examination in the late nineteenth century of the worn coat of arms on the side of the bridge indicated that the bridge was built by James Beaton between 1522 and 1539. Unfortunately after more than another century of weathering the stone coat of arms on the bridge has become un-decipherable. Until the arrival of turnpike roads, Dairsie Bridge and Strathkiness were both on the main Cupar to St. Andrew's road. The road is clearly shown in Taylor and Skinners "Survey and Maps of the Roads of North Britain or Scotland (1776)".
