200 Club

The winners of the June draw of the Dairsie Memorial Hall 200 Club were all Dairsie folk - they were M.Gourlay - £20; S. Matthopoulou - £10; and C.Paton - £5.

Morning Services

During the month of July, the Summer Family Services will start as usual at 9.30am. but an innovation is that they will be led by church members, and will last for around 30 minutes, followed by tea/coffee in the hall. It is thought that we shall be joined by some members from St. John's Church, Cupar, sharing this family service.

Strawberry Tea

Summertime, strawberries and cream, and good company - all are very welcome at the church hall on Sunday, 3rd July between 2 and 4pm. There will be a cake and plant table - so something nice to take home.

Family Service

The first of the July family services was held in Dairsie Church on Sunday, 3rd July, and it was well supported by members of the linked churches of St. John's, Cupar and Dairsie. They will be held in Dairsie each Sunday in July, and will be jointly led by members from both churches. They will be only around 30 minutes long, and then there will be an opportunity for fellowship in the church hall afterwards over a cup of tea.

Strawberry Tea

In the afternoon, Dairsie Church Guild welcomed members of both churches and any visitors to a strawberry tea. There was a sales table too, and £300 was raised for Guild funds.

Barn Dance

Some years ago, a barn dance was held on Edenbank Farm, courtesy of Gary and Carol Owen. Your correspondent was there, and it was a great family night of dancing, and fun -not forgotten is a young child still bounding with energy at almost midnight!! The grapevine says there is to be another one there, on Saturday 13th August, with live music as well as a disco. It is to be hoped that this is not just wishful thinking, but meantime get it down in your diary and watch this space!

Barn Dance

It is official - a leaflet through the door today confirms that the Memorial Hall Committee are organising a Barn Dance, to be held on Saturday, 13th August at Edenbank Farm - 7.30pm to 12.30am. With the Dunshalt Ceilidh Band, a Disco, a two course supper, and, of course, a bar, you are advised to get your tickets early to avoid disappointment, as numbers are strictly limited, and it is anticipated that it will be very popular and tickets will disappear fast. At £10 and £5 for children of primary school age, tickets are available from any committee member or Blair Littlejohn. Your support at this fun packed evening will help to continue the re-roofing of the Village Hall.

Golf Traffic

It was the usual nose to tail through the village during the Open Golf in St. Andrews. All who could stay home did so, or timed their journeys or attempts to cross the road, at the 'hopefully' quieter times. It was with some amazement therefore to find that many members of St. John's Church had successfully reached Dairsie in time to join the Family Service at Dairsie Church at 9.30 on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the usual after the service fellowship over tea/coffee is not possible at present, due to structural problems in the hall, which are currently being investigated.
