Parish Newsletter

The volunteers who compile the newsletter and those who deliver them are giving a great service, delivering to the outlying homes as well as within the village. There are a number of events which take place soon which should be noted. The approach of Easter brings special opportunities to worship, and these are all to be found in the newsletter. It should be noted that throughout the summer, services have reverted to the earlier time of 9.30am.

Coffee Mornings

Ladies of the church welcome all in the community to the monthly coffee morning on Thursday 13th April in the church hall from 10am - always held on the second Thursday of the month.

Community Council

The traffic calming measures are after all to be imposed on Osnaburgh Court - 20mph and three build-outs in spite of the wishes of the majority of the residents.

Diaries

You are asked to write all dates of interest in your diary NOW before you lose the newsletter in the mass of paper which always descends on our homes!

A special invitation is for Easter Sunday 16th April at 8am, when the Cupar District Churches are holding an Easter Service at the top of Hill of Tarvit, followed by breakfast at Craigrothie Hall - a special way to celebrate this day in unity and joy.

School

The children are enjoying the Easter holiday, and on their return to the school on Tuesday, 18th April, they will be welcoming back the Headmistress, Mrs. Mary Halliday.

SWRI News

Members welcomed the internationally known storyteller, Jess Smith at the April meeting. From Creich, Logie Murdoch and Strathkinness "Rurals" (Abdie could not come - snow!) came members to enjoy the tales, poems and songs of her life with her family of travelling people. The family of the parents and seven girls shared a converted bus as they followed the seasonal work round the country, and the tales she told brought much laughter, and interspersed with her fine singing of Celtic music, it was an unusual and enjoyable evening. Her CD's and books were available to buy during the tempting refreshment break, and business ended the meeting.

It is hoped that the residents will give their generous support to the Coffee Morning to be held in the village hall on Saturday, 29th April at the later than usual time of 11am. The hall committee are arranging the event to raise the always much-needed funds for the upkeep of the hall. There will be the usual stalls, a raffle, and tea/coffee with scones and pancakes. Enquiries and offers of donations to the Secretary, Carol Owen.

Church Guild

Anne Ronaldson of Age Concern, Cupar brought 15 members along to the church hall to share in an entertainment and an afternoon tea of home baking. Church member, Anne Angus, accompanying herself on guitar, took her audience on a musical journey around the world, with, among others, country songs from America, a Maori song, Irish music, and of course, well known and loved Scots songs. David Gibson was there, playing a lively selection of foot-tapping and sing-along music on his accordion. A lavish tea followed, with eventual protestations that it was delicious but they could eat no more! Kathleen Innes-Smith thanked the entertainers warmly, and thanks for a happy afternoon were given by Anne Ronaldson.
