Dairsie Inn

Our local has changed hands and after a short closure, it reopened yesterday (Thursday) at 5pm. A warm welcome is promised to all.

Easter Sunday

A small congregation were at the Palm Sunday Service conducted by the Rev. Graham Blount, and he surmised that members might have been caught out by the earlier start. So, a reminder that through the summer months, services start at the earlier time of 9:30am.

Coffee mornings

Advance information, in the hope of great support from the community. The coffee mornings have resumed in the church hall on the second Thursday of the month, 12th April at 10am - a chance to meet and chat, and enjoy the home baking!

Then on Saturday, 14th April at 10am, the hall committee invite you to support their friendly, fund-raising coffee morning. If you are new to the village, come along, have a word with any helper, and they will give you a warm welcome. And they promise not to try to coax you on to the committee!

Congratulations

Warmest good wishes were expressed to the church organist Lewis Thomson, after it was announced at the service that he was to marry Gemma Paterson today, Friday, in the Belvedere Hotel, West Wemyss. A smile was raised when it transpired that his letter giving the news also contained a pencilled PS. requesting to be excused from his duties on Sunday! A card signed by the congregation was given to him at the service, together with warmest thoughts to both for every happiness.

Coffee Morning

Carol Owen, the new chair of the Hall Committee, had a number of thankyous to express at the end of the fund-raising coffee morning last Saturday. She gave appreciative thanks to those who came to give their support - for the donations to the stalls - for the generous raffle prizes - and a special thankyou to all who helped with the considerable work involved, committee members and others. Then she spoke warmly of the 10 years of service given by her predecessor, Morag Jones, who resigned when she and her husband, Gareth, also on the committee, moved to Dundee. Morag had been on the committee for 14 years from 1978, then after a break she returned as Chairman in 1997,and served in that capacity for 10 years, during which time she was very involved with the alterations to the hall, and always ensured that the hall was kept to a very high standard. So the Committee felt that they could not let her go without a presentation - a fine picture of the hall and a magnificent plant. Morag was very moved by the warm words, by the "you will be a hard act to follow" and by the many folk who were so pleased to welcome her back and to thank her for all her hard work. Now she is enjoying the delight of her first grandchild, wee Lucy, just 9 weeks old. The sum raised was £236 towards the upkeep of this much needed facility, and it is hoped that other events will be better supported, as so very few folk were able, or prepared, to find an hour to support the hall and it's dedicated committee.

The Minister

There is better news of our minister the Rev. Sheila Blount, whose illness has finally, after many tests, been diagnosed and treatment begun. The latest news is that she is feeling a little better, though it will be some time yet before she can resume her duties. We wish her well.
