Are you rembering to support your hall by popping along at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning, 12th April? There, you can enjoy good company, coffee/tea and a browse through the usual stalls, and feel that your contribution is helping to keep our Memorial Hall open.
The Coffee Morning on Saturday the 12th was a success with a cheery company, including some not seen there before. The event swelled hall funds by around £314 – a good increase on last time. Carol Owen thanked all warmly for their support – the committee for their hard work, those who donated to the stalls, and those who gave the many raffle prizes. The next fund-raising event is a Quiz Night on Saturday, 24th May at which all are welcome (a fun night and not too demanding!)
The Trust manages the village park for the use and pleasure of all, and looks forward to support from local folk at the Annual General Meeting to be held in the Memorial Hall at 7pm on 1st May. All welcome.
At the April meeting, Mr. H. Lawson gave a slide show on Wildflowers. His interest in the subject started as a student in Glasgow when he was told to go outside and pick weeds. It has been an enduring hobby, and his talk and slides were very interesting and informative. Tea was then served by A. Fenion and N. Napier.
Competition Winners were: Invitation to a party - 1st J Armes; Flower of the month - 1st J Armes, 2nd H Horsburgh.
The hall is being redecorated at present, so the Guild Coffee Morning for April was held at Foxton Farm by invitation of the Guild President, Willa Ferguson. As always, it was a friendly occasion, with special pleasure given by their beautiful garden and the fine view, and there were many appreciative thanks.
On Wednesday, 30th April at 8pm, there is to be a great treat, when the Buckhaven and Methil Miner’s Brass Band is to be performing in Dairsie Church. Lewis, our church organist will be playing. All are very welcome, and it is hoped for good support. Coffee/tea will be served in the church hall afterwards. Admission £2, proceeds to Raven Trust in Malawi for help to hospitals and schools by supply of practical, useful equipment.
At last the scaffolding is away from the church! The weather vane has been replaced following the collapse of the previous one in stormy weather. Work took longer than hoped as repairs to the stonework were found to be necessary.
Every good wish for a long and happy life together to Gillian Bell and Alister Reid who were married in Dairsie Church on Saturday, 19th April.
