The Fife Herald has kindly given the Dairsie web site permission to copy the Dairsie News that is printed in the Fife Herald every week.
The hall has reopened after being redecorated during the half term break. The hall committee would like to thank Norman Clark and his team for doing such a good job.
Winners of the October draw of the Dairsie War Memorial Hall 2000 Club were 1 Mr Brown, 2 Mr Sutherland, both Dairsie, 3 Mr Murray, Aberdeen.
A short act of Remembrance organised by the WRI will be held at the War Memorial Hall on Sunday at 2 pm.
A short act of remembrance, organised by Dairsie WRI, was held at Dairsie Memorial Hall. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. Graham Blount. The wreath was laid by members of the family of David Crichton, who died while on active service during the First World War and whose name is among those on the Memorial.
Dairsie WRI held its AGM on November 6. The new committee was elected with office bearers as follows: President - Marion Smith; secretary - Willa Ferguson; treasurer - Jeanette Armes. The Rosebowl (for the most points in competitions during the year) was presented to Jeanette Armes, with Mary Booth second. The prize for most points in flower of the month was also won by Jeanette Armes with Helen Horsburgh second. After the business meeting was complete, entertainment was provided by ladies from Craigrothie WRI, with a cookery demonstration, recitations and a quiz. November competitions: Halloween mask 1 - R. Ferguson, 2 - J. Armes; Flower of the Month: 1 - M. Smith, 2 - D. Eccles.
The Hall Committee is busy preparing for the Winter Warmer, which will be held in the hall on Saturday, November 28, from noon - 1 p.m. usual stalls. We hope you will support this event and come along for a warm bowl of soup.
At a recent Hall Committee meeting, Carol Owen announced she was stepping down as chairperson of the hall at the next AGM. If you would like to join the committee or become the new chairperson, please phone Carol on 870068.
The 2009 Scottish Poppy Appeal raised £196.73. The collectors were Miss V. Davies, Mr. A Waldie, Mrs. H. Waldie and the White Chimneys Sandwich Bar. The contributions of all involved are greatly appreciated.
Come along to the War Memorial tomorrow (Saturday) from noon - 1 pm and enjoy a tasty bowl of homemade soup. Cake and candy, raffle, tombola and Christmas stall. Please support your hall.
