Just ten people turned out for the village hall AGM on Thursday evening, to hear how this vital village asset was faring. The treasurer reported that the finances were in good shape, with adequate reserves for the coming year. In her final report as chairperson, Carol Owen highlighted the wide range of groups who regularly use the hall. Drama classes, movement to music, the tots group, Wednesday club and youth club, all use the facilities each week, while the WRI, community council and school were less frequent users. The hall committee itself held several fund-raising events and there were a few private functions. The income from these lets enabled us to finish double glazing the hall and carry out some re-decoration. She finished by thanking everyone for their help through out the year and wishing the next chairperson every success for the future. The meeting then moved on to the election of committee members and office bearers. The committee welcomed two new members, Steve Brooks and Drew Moyes, and said goodbye to three, with Carol Owen, Gary Owen and John Eccles all resigning. Margaret Roberts was elected as the new chairperson with David Cowieson continuing as treasurer and Stuart Ferguson as secretary.
The ladies are looking forward to their "morning coffees" starting up again. The first one is on Thursday, March 11, from 10 am to 11.30 am.
