The Fife Herald has kindly given the Dairsie web site permission to copy the Dairsie News that is printed in the Fife Herald every week.
On Sunday the congregation at Dairsie bade farewell to our minister, Rev. Sheila Blount. She conducted the service along with her husband Rev. Dr. Graham Blount. Sadly Sheila has had to retire because of ill health and our prayers for the future go with her. The good wishes of the village go with Sheila and Graham as they start a new chapter in their lives in Glasgow.
The winners in the June draw of the Dairsie War Memorial Hall 200 Club were Steven Eccles (£20), Ian Barclay (£10) and Blair Littlejohn (£5), all Dairsie folks.
On Friday, June 18, Dairsie Primary School held a sports day at Dairsie Park. There was a whole day of events and families were invited to bring along a picnic lunch. Pupils planned the events which included potted sports, team games, competitive races and even some highland games! There was a very good turnout and everyone had a brilliant day. (Report by Morgan Stalker P6.)
Dairsie Primary School held its Summer Fayre on Saturday, June 19. There were a number of stalls including woodcraft, jewellery, cards, handmade soap, model cars and a barbeque. As well as the professional stalls the school also organised lucky square, a children's tombola, lucky bags, raffle and even Sponge Bob where staff, parents and pupils were soaked! Janetta's donated ice cream which was sold to raise nearly £70 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. A number of other local businesses donated prizes including Tesco, Morrisons, Cairnie fruit farm, Fisher and Donaldson, Dairsie Garage and Dairsie Mini-Market. It was a very successful day with nearly £700 raised for school funds. Thanks to everyone who supported us.
Congratulations to the four ladies from Dairsie WRI who won the Fife Federation SWRI Bowling Trophy at Lumphinnans. Good luck to them when they go forward to the Scottish Championship at Cullen in August.
